Ketika mendengar istilah patah tulang, kebanyakan orang mungkin langsung membayangkan lengan atau kaki yang dibalut gips. Namun, ada satu jenis patah tulang yang jauh lebih berbahaya, yaitu patah tulang panggul. Cedera ini bukan sekadar membuat seseorang tidak bisa berjalan, tetapi bisa benar-benar mengancam nyawa. Mengapa demikian? Mari kita pahami bersama.

Kenapa Patah Tulang Panggul Bisa Mengancam Nyawa?

Tulang panggul adalah struktur besar yang menyangga tubuh bagian bawah, tempat melekatnya organ vital, pembuluh darah besar, serta saraf penting. Ketika panggul patah akibat benturan keras, pembuluh darah yang besar di sekitarnya dapat robek dan menimbulkan pendarahan hebat di dalam rongga panggul.

Yang membuatnya berbahaya, perdarahan ini tidak tampak dari luar, sehingga sering kali tidak segera disadari. Dalam hitungan menit hingga jam, pasien bisa kehilangan banyak darah, jatuh ke kondisi syok, bahkan berujung kematian bila tidak segera ditangani.

Kenapa Patah Tulang Panggul Dapat Terjadi?

Sebagian besar patah tulang panggul terjadi karena trauma energi tinggi, misalnya:

  • Kecelakaan lalu lintas, baik pengendara motor maupun penumpang mobil.
  • Jatuh dari ketinggian, misalnya pekerja bangunan atau kecelakaan di rumah bertingkat.
  • Tertimpa benda berat dalam kecelakaan kerja.

Namun, pada orang lanjut usia dengan tulang rapuh (osteoporosis), patah panggul bisa terjadi meskipun jatuhnya hanya dari posisi berdiri. Inilah sebabnya kasus ini tidak hanya dialami oleh korban kecelakaan besar, tetapi juga bisa menimpa kakek-nenek kita di rumah.

Bagaimana Penanganan Medisnya?

Patah tulang panggul tidak bisa dianggap enteng. Penanganannya membutuhkan tim dokter dari berbagai bidang: bedah ortopedi, anestesi, hingga radiologi intervensi.

Langkah pertama biasanya adalah menjaga kestabilan pasien. Dokter akan memasang sabuk atau alat penstabil panggul untuk menekan perdarahan. Jika pendarahan terus berlanjut, dapat dilakukan tindakan operasi darurat, seperti memasukkan kain perban ke dalam rongga panggul (pelvic packing) atau menutup pembuluh darah yang bocor dengan prosedur angiografi.

Setelah kondisi pasien stabil, barulah dilakukan tindakan operasi untuk memperbaiki tulang panggul dengan sekrup, pelat, atau teknik khusus lainnya. Proses pemulihan bisa panjang, tetapi langkah-langkah ini penting untuk menyelamatkan nyawa pasien.

Apa yang Bisa Dilakukan Masyarakat Umum?

Sebagai orang awam, kita tentu tidak bisa langsung menangani patah panggul. Namun, ada beberapa hal penting yang harus dilakukan bila menemukan korban:

  1. Jangan memindahkan pasien sembarangan. Gerakan kasar bisa memperburuk perdarahan.
  2. Jaga posisi tubuh tetap stabil. Bila mungkin, ikatkan kain atau sabuk lebar di sekitar pinggul korban untuk menahan panggul tetap rapat.
  3. Segera hubungi ambulans atau bawa ke rumah sakit besar. Patah panggul membutuhkan fasilitas lengkap yang biasanya hanya ada di rumah sakit rujukan.
  4. Perhatikan tanda syok. Bila korban tampak pucat, berkeringat dingin, napas cepat, atau pingsan, itu tanda kehilangan darah serius. Segera percepat evakuasi ke rumah sakit.

Kesimpulan

Patah tulang panggul bukanlah cedera biasa. Ia berbahaya karena dapat menimbulkan perdarahan besar yang tidak terlihat dari luar, membuat pasien tiba-tiba jatuh ke kondisi kritis. Penyebabnya sering kali adalah kecelakaan lalu lintas, jatuh dari ketinggian, atau cedera pada lansia dengan tulang rapuh.
