Hemoroid, pembengkakan pembuluh darah di sekitar anus dan rektum, atau biasa disebut ambeien, seringkali diselimuti mitos dan kesalahpahaman. Mari kita luruskan fakta dan mitos tentang hemoroid ya

Mitos 1: Hemoroid hanya dialami orang tua.

Fakta: Hemoroid sebenarnya cukup umum dan dapat menyerang siapa saja, berapapun usianya. Faktor risiko seperti gaya hidup, pola makan, dan kehamilan juga berperan.

Mitos 2: Hemoroid selalu menimbulkan rasa sakit.

Fakta: Meskipun rasa sakit adalah gejala umum hemoroid, tidak semua orang mengalaminya. Gejala lain seperti gatal, pendarahan, dan benjolan di sekitar anus juga dapat terjadi.

Mitos 3: Hemoroid hanya bisa disembuhkan dengan operasi.

Fakta: Ada berbagai pilihan pengobatan untuk hemoroid, mulai dari perubahan gaya hidup, obat-obatan, hingga prosedur non-invasif dan operasi. Pilihan terbaik tergantung pada tingkat keparahan dan jenis hemoroid.

Mitos 4: Hemoroid menular.

Fakta: Hemoroid tidak menular dan tidak dapat ditularkan melalui kontak fisik.

Mitos 5: Mengangkat benda berat menyebabkan hemoroid.

Fakta: Mengangkat benda berat memang dapat meningkatkan tekanan pada pembuluh darah di sekitar anus, tetapi tidak secara langsung menyebabkan hemoroid. Faktor risiko lain seperti konstipasi dan kehamilan lebih berperan.

Mitos 6: Makan pedas memicu hemoroid.

Fakta: Meskipun makanan pedas dapat memperburuk gejala hemoroid pada beberapa orang, tidak ada bukti ilmiah yang menunjukkan bahwa makanan pedas secara langsung menyebabkan hemoroid.

Mitos 7: Duduk terlalu lama menyebabkan hemoroid.

Fakta: Duduk terlalu lama memang dapat meningkatkan tekanan pada pembuluh darah di sekitar anus, tetapi tidak secara langsung menyebabkan hemoroid. Faktor risiko lain seperti konstipasi dan kehamilan lebih berperan.

Mitos 8: Hemoroid dapat disembuhkan dengan obat herbal.

Fakta: Meskipun beberapa obat herbal mungkin membantu meredakan gejala hemoroid, tidak ada bukti ilmiah yang kuat untuk mendukung klaim bahwa obat herbal dapat menyembuhkan hemoroid secara permanen.
